Ryedale Folk Museum
A warm welcome for everyone! As you step through the entrance of the Ryedale Folk Museum you will be transported back in time. Take a walk through the site and learn about the history of Ryedale from centuries past. Take a look through the shop, there is an opportunity to find that perfect gift or something to remember your visit.
The Ryedale Folk Museum has a number of attractions to keep everyone of all ages entertained. From its Iron Age Roundhouse - Step back through time and visit the Iron Age! This fabulous new addition to the museum is being built using the exact same techniques used by Iron Age man! Mud, Horse Hair, Wood and Straw are used to construct this dwelling. Come inside and see how people used to use the space to live, fascinating!
To it's World War 2 Hut - Your Country Needs You! Come in and see the video’s on the projector screen of local people and their stories of their experiences of being evacuated during The War. See the fabulous model on display of a typical British Army Airfield and also the old photographs, paintings and posters.
Ryedale Folk Museum has many other attractions from mini villages, farm machinery, a maze, a victorian class room, witches hovel, photo studio, victorian garden to many different animals to see and feed.
Open every day*: 10.00am - 5.30pm (last entry at 4.30pm) *Except between late October – mid-March: 10.00am – dusk and when closed from 7th December 2009 to 16th January 2010
