The Ticket Office

The little North York Moors village of Ruswarp is just two miles inland from Whitby on the boundary of the National Park. It has a general store, public house and its own nine-hole golf course. There is an impressive viaduct crossing the River Esk, which is one of the regions major landmarks. Over five million bricks were used to build the viaduct, it is 120 feet high and was built to carry the Scarborough to Whitby railway line. The line was closed in 1965 and now the viaduct is a walking and cycle trail. Visitors can enjoy river and sea fishing or spend time boating on the river. As well as the famous North York Steam Railway, train enthusiasts can also enjoy a trip on Ruswarps miniature steam railway. This village is in a superb location for memorable holiday.

This unusual and unique property is a Victorian, Grade II listed converted ticket office, offering a romantic retreat for two people.

This Victorian, Grade II listed ticket office has been imaginatively converted and has retained many of its original features. The sitting, kitchen and dining area are all on open plan, and the compact, well-equipped kitchen and farmhouse style dining area are cleverly screened by the spiral staircase from the warm and inviting sitting room with its original ticket office cast iron fireplace and tiles. Winding through this delightfully quirky property, the spiral stairs go up to the eaves where the cosy and intimate cabin style bedroom awaits, and the bathroom is also housed in this space. The lawned area to the front of the property may be enjoyed by the guests. This is a beautiful property and makes a perfect hideaway to enjoy this area.

Heating from storage heaters with additional heating from living flame gas fire in living area. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, colour TV, video, DVD player, stereo/CD player etc. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 1 car. Use of grassed area to front of property with lawn and flower beds. One well behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 1 minute walk, pub across road. Note: The bedroom is situated in the eaves and has restricted access from one side only. Note: Property is adjacent to the station platform (4 trains daily) on scenic Esk Valley Line.
