Thornton-le-Dale has a variety of shops, public houses and tea-rooms and nearby Pickering is just two miles away with a more comprehensive range of amenities and its famous North York Moors Steam Railway. To the north of the village is the Forestry Commissions Dalby Forest and this has several excellent nature trails to be enjoyed by all abilities and ages. This area has a wealth of attractions to be enjoyed and is a fabulous base for a holiday any time of year.
