Newton is an unspoilt village on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with its own, centuries-old duck pond and village green. The famous steam railway runs close by in Newtondale. Castles, abbeys, stately homes, market towns and picturesque fishing villages are within easy reach. York is 30 miles away, coastal cliffs and sandy beaches about 20 miles. The village is high on the North York Moors in the National Park, renowned for its spectacular sweeps of heather moorland, abundant wildlife and for its homely stone-and-pantiled farms and cottages.

Exposed beams retain some of the cottages original character and the living accommodation has been arranged in an open-plan style to create a spacious and bright feel. Visitors have shared use of the owners garden, which offers ample opportunity for a spot of al fresco dining. The cottage also makes a perfect base in the winter months, being heated by oil central heating and an atmospheric wood-burning stove in the sitting room.
